“When he [Jesus] saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." Mt. 9:36-38

Do you speak English at an intermediate level? Do you love God and people? Do you want to be a blessing to others? “Teach” cross-culturally using our International School of English DVD Course. Start a school, make contacts, develop relationships, share the gospel, begin a Bible study…and more! Who knows where God might lead you?

Your “teaching” is, in reality, serving as a class facilitator. We call this vital position, the paraprofessional. You would monitor the progress of the students, pass out tests and cover sheets, collect the textbooks after each class session, prepare for each lesson by providing the necessary materials, grade tests, keep attendance records, be sure the class is listening to the DVD teacher and staying on task, set up the DVD player, speakers, TV or video projector, put desk/tables and chairs in order, store materials in a safe place, etc..

But one of the key aspects about being the paraprofessional (the classroom facilitator) is the built-in opportunity to spend an ample amount of quality time with the students on a regular basis. Each class session is from 60-90 minutes in length and generally about half that time is deliberately set aside for the paraprofessional to interact with the students. This is where you assist the students with their assigned seatwork. Do they understand the instructions? Do they know how to do the assigned task? Are they working productively with their partner? As you encourage the students in their language acquisition, you are automatically developing positive relationships with each student. In so doing, trust is also being nurtured and opportunities to share God’s love will become a natural byproduct.
